Old signage, weathered and painted over with graffiti — faded colors against brick and cement walls — rusted fences and doors...

The urban landscape and deterioration of my neighborhood in Mid-City Los Angeles is a direct influence to my work.

My style combines muted, complementary colors with texture and typography. I use water-based mixed media on canvas and wood. The painting process is normally achieved by staining, scratching, ripping and sanding the surface. The ability to expose underlying layers is what I find most challenging and rewarding.

Studied graphic design and advertising design at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. During college I began working in design studios and print shops. My professional career in painting and photography began in 1995 at The Art Explosion in San Francisco.
