Progressive Images

After prepping the canvas on the studio floor, I mounted it to the studio wall where I started creating my interpretation of Train Car Door #1 (shown). The first paint that went down was a combination of layers with dark colored backgrounds and letterforms. The second phase covered the first with blank newsprint adhered to the canvas with wallpaper clay. You can see some of the first phase peeking out around the edges.

Composition, color and textures were modified (progressions 5 & 6) and the final piece came together. This painting was finished within a 12 hour period (not including prep, final stretching to frame and final varnish)
